Several substances are known to effectively bind and remove toxins, including heavy metals, from the human body. Here are some of the best binders used for detoxification:

1. Activated Charcoal: Known for its high adsorptive capacity, activated charcoal can bind to a wide range of toxins and chemicals in the digestive tract, preventing their absorption and aiding in their excretion.

2. Chlorella: This freshwater algae has been shown to bind heavy metals and other toxins. Chlorella contains chlorophyll and other nutrients that support detoxification processes in the body. However, chlorella is not a strong binder and can drop bound toxins in the digestive system. Maybe use it alongside another binder as it has some good nutrients.

3. Zeolite: A natural volcanic mineral, zeolite has a cage-like structure that can trap heavy metals and toxins. It is used as a dietary supplement for detoxification. Natural zeolite is such a good binder, it’s difficult to say if it’s not already caring bound toxins. There are lab made zeolites that are quality controlled. I prefer the idea of the natural ones and maybe you can get a source that is verified clean? Either way, start slowly with this binder, in very small amounts.

4. Bentonite Clay: Bentonite clay has a negative charge that can attract and bind positively charged toxins, including heavy metals. It is often used in detox programs and can be taken internally or applied externally. It’s very important to drink lots of water as this clay will absorb water from the digestive tract.

5. Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP): Derived from the pith of citrus fruits, MCP is a soluble fiber that can bind heavy metals and other toxins, facilitating their removal from the body. This is available in capsules and powder and can be added to smoothies.

6. Psyllium Husk: A high-fiber supplement that can help bind and remove toxins through increased bowel movements. It is often used in conjunction with other detox agents to support gastrointestinal health. It absorbs a lot of water so be sure to drink lots or add it to a smoothie. It’s pretty tasteless. Great for stool health if taken with lots of water.

7. Silica: Found in foods and supplements, silica can help bind aluminum and other metals, promoting their excretion. You can also buy water that’s naturally rich in silica, or make silica water by adding silica drops.

8. Humic and Fulvic Acids: These naturally occurring substances in soil and peat can bind heavy metals and other toxins, enhancing their elimination from the body.

GI Detox Capsules

A useful product that combines most of the above is GIDetox by Biocidin Botanicals.

Practical Advice:

- Hydration: Drinking plenty of water is crucial when using binders, as it helps flush out the bound toxins.

- Balanced Diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can support the body’s natural detoxification processes. This is not always possible with autistic children but homeopathy can help to resolve restricted eating.

- Professional Guidance: Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any detoxification regimen, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications.

These binders, when used appropriately and under professional guidance, can support detoxification and overall health.
