Sports Injury Recovery! Bounce Back Like Bolt
Sports Injury Recovery! Bounce Back Like Bolt..
I had a question from Chris, a marathon runner, about natural alternatives for sports recovery. He’s interested in natural nutrition & I’m guessing he is interested in bouncing back after races with good muscle, bone & joint repair.
I’m gonna smack him with some excellent homeopathic and tissue salt remedies to support muscle, bone and joint repair, later in this post. Meanwhile, there are some nutritional needs (beyond the obvious) that may be accentuated in runners and sports people. You can meet these with careful eating:
Homeopathic remedies for Muscle, Bone & Joint Repair.
Bruising & Aching:
Arnica: can help to prevent those post-race muscle aches by limiting inflammation and disbursing bruising very quickly.
Take 1 arnica 30c pill straight after running, and another 12 hours later. If you have run a marathon, do this every 12 hours for 3 days. Standard, strenuous running, two doses will do.
Shin Splints/ Stress Fractures:
Symphytum 6c: Speeds healing of fractures. Take 3 times a day for a week and then take a break for 2 weeks. If you are running a LOT, and tend to suffer with shin splints, you may need to repeat this remedy in cycles of 1 week on and 2 weeks off.
Check your shoes! You need new running shoes after 300-500 miles of wear. Make sure they suit your running gait too. Good quality shoes are a must for bone and joint health. Have them professionally fitted.
Supplements:
A Tissue Salt Combination for Runners
